Are you giving yourself a break? We’ve all had a challenging 18 months and whilst many have been furiously pedalling to keep up, a rest could be exactly what you and your business needs.

Read on to find out why the team took a break from the business this year and what we learned from it…

Why We Took Some Time Out

The team have been so busy over the last 18 months particularly, helping our clients to navigate a “new normal” and staying ahead of the information as much as possible.

As we’ve said before, whilst you’re in the midst of being busy it’s often easy to overlook the little things that make your business run well on a day to day basis. We advise our clients to take breaks, to focus on growing their businesses in a healthy way and to work on their mindset to improve and set new objectives. Now it was time to take our own advice.

The business has nearly doubled in size through the first part of the year and with the summer holidays around the corner, we decided that the whole team should take a break.

What Did We Learn?

One of the first things we planned when taking a break was to do something fun with the kids every day. Travelling is difficult during a global pandemic so I (Helen) decided that we’d enjoy what our local area has to offer. We discovered days out that we had never considered previously and the best part was being able to come back to our own beds at the end of the day.

Taking time out from the business, turning my phone off and putting the Out of Office on, can be quite difficult at times, especially when you work so closely with clients on a daily basis. Luckily for us, we have the BEST clients who understand and encourage rest and relaxation. Switching off is vital for a business so that we can rest, come back together and create new objectives with fresh eyes and minds.

Being more refreshed allows you to look internally at what it is that you really want, whether as a person or as a business, and actively improves the way you move ahead. Our focus following our rest is to ensure that we continue to provide our clients with a smooth, friendly and professional service whilst helping their business and ours to continue with a healthy growth.

Sometimes Your Business Won’t Grow – And That’s Ok

Some clients worry when their business “stalls” in it’s growth but, just like our minds, it’s ok to stop every now and then. Businesses go through stages of growth and that includes periods of rest. You, and your business, don’t always need to be moving forward like a freight train. If you don’t take the time to reassess the internal structures of the business, what it is that makes you great and your core values, your foundations could crumble.

Instead of panicking during a slow growth period, why not take advantage of the rest, let the dust settle and evaluate your own internal structures. This way, when your business starts to grow again, you’ll be refreshed and ready to take on the world once more.
